Please join us for our June monthly general meeting of Big Country Society for Human Resource Management. 

“Why & How to Hire Veterans”

Participants will learn how to determine if an employer is valid according to the Texas Workforce Commission, how to locate existing accounts, how to discover information needed to create new employer accounts and the steps to create the accounts in workintexas.com.  They will also learn what should be done and documented afterwards.

Sherry Byard is currently the Veterans Employer Liaison District Coach for West Texas.  She provides training, mentoring and continuing development for Veterans Employer Liaisons throughout the western half of Texas.

She began with the Texas Veterans Commission as a Veterans Employer Liaison for the West Central Workforce Development Board on November 16th, 2015.   

She became a Certified Workforce Development Professional and holds a Level II Business Management Certification and the SHRM Foundation Veterans at Work Certificate.

Sherry is also co-founder of the Women Veterans of West Texas and is on the Texas Veterans Commission Women Veterans Collaboration Committee, creating public awareness for women veterans, connecting women veterans in Texas with each other and with benefits and services they have earned.

She is an Air Force Veteran and served from 1981 until 1985 as a Commanders Administrative Support Specialist.
