BURNED OUT: COVID-19 and Women in the Workplace

Are you burned out?

The events of 2020 have turned workplaces upside down.

Under the highly challenging circumstances of the Covid-19 crisis, many employees are struggling to do their jobs. Many feel like they’re “always on” now that the boundaries between work and home have blurred. They’re worried about their family’s health and finances. Burnout is a real issue.

Women in particular have been negatively impacted. The pandemic has intensified challenges that women already face in the workplace.

Due to challenges created by the Covid-19 crisis, as many as two million women are considering taking a leave of absence or leaving the workforce altogether.

This is the first time we’ve seen signs of women leaving the workforce at higher rates than men. If these women feel forced to leave the workforce, we’ll end up with far fewer women in leadership—and far fewer women on track to be future leaders. All the progress we’ve seen over the past years would be erased.

If companies recognize the scale of these problems and do all we can to address them, we can help our employees get through this difficult time and even reinvent the way we work so it’s more flexible and sustainable for everyone. If not, the consequences could badly hurt women, business, and the economy as a whole.

Join us for this complimentary session as we look closer at the requirements of this moment—creativity, long-term thinking and a focus on the value of women to our organizations.
